N-able Technologies to Integrate Intel® vPro™ Technology to Expand Remote Desktop Management Capabilites

N-able Announces Support for Intel vPro Technology at N-able's Chicago Partner Summit

Ottawa, Canada — September 22, 2006 — N-able Technologies® today announced its remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform N-central® and RMM service N-central OnDemand™ will integrate and support the Intel® vPro™ technology which features the built-in manageability of the Intel® 965 Express Chipset. Available to N-able partners in UK and North America, this added functionality and support will enable managed service providers (MSPs) to maximize the proactive desktop management and monitoring capabilities within N-able's Velocity System™ and Momentum System™. The new Intel® vPro™ technology is expected to start shipping in September 2006.

In support of this announcement, Kevin Havre, Intel Product Marketing Engineer, is presenting to more than 200 MSPs at N-able's Regional Partner Summit today in Chicago. Havre's presentation, "A Look at Next Generation Hardware Management Capabilities," will take a closer look at how MSPs can better discover, manage and protect their customers' desktop computing assets by creating built-in hardware management capabilities with N-able and Intel technology.

By integrating the Intel® vPro™ technology into N-central and N-central OnDemand, MSPs will provide built-in manageability for PCs that are turned off, inoperable or unresponsive. This integration provides MSPs:

  • Ability to control systems remotely and turn them OFF and ON in order to reset them or simply conserve energy.
  • Enhanced discovery and detailed asset collection information including BIOS, amount and location of memory (DIMMs), hard drive, CPU type and model number.
  • Hardware Change services to manage unauthorized changes to systems.

"Being able to remotely control a client's networked desktop environment will become a services differentiator for our partners," says Gavin Garbutt, President and CEO, N-able Technologies. "Incorporating the Intel® vPro™ technology into our Velocity System and Momentum System ups the value and expands the services our partners can offer to their customers. Simultaneously, it makes it easier for our partners to provide exceptional and uninterrupted customer service without adding costs to the model."

"Remote desktop management is the leading edge of capability for today's MSPs. N-able's expanded functionality will allow us to reduce the cost of service delivery for routine tasks such as inventory and patch management, and ultimately help us to improve customer satisfaction and increase our profit margins," says Tom Snyder, Ph.D., Co-founder and COO, Xantrion, a solution provider in Oakland, Calif. "N-able's Velocity System gives us a global view of our clients' IT infrastructure including alarm status, performance history and hardware and software inventory — we couldn't do business without it."

The Intel vPro technology features proactive desktop security, energy-efficient performance and built-in manageability to help businesses reduce costs and improve network efficiencies. Integration and support for the Intel vPro technology will be available in the next major release of N-central and N-central OnDemand which is scheduled for Q107.

"Intel vPro technology will help N-able raise the bar and bring to market a new standard for remotely managing and monitoring PCs," says Philip Chen, Marketing Director, Intel. "Integrating N-able's N-central and N-central OnDemand with the Intel vPro technology will give MSPs the built-in manageability they've been looking for and help simplify service processes and increase customer satisfaction across the board."

"This alignment between N-able and Intel technologies will certainly improve our partners' desktop management capabilities and offer real-time visibility into a client's entire network," concludes Garbutt. "Having the ability to remotely manage, monitor and control a client's IT environment will help reduce IT administrative costs and enhance our partners' proactive service offerings."
